Eating too much of it has been linked to problems like obesity, heart disease, and inflammation.
So, should you stop using refined oil altogether? And what might happen if you stop using it for a month? We asked experts to find out.

Dr. Devendra Shrimal, a heart specialist at Narayana Multispeciality Clinic in Jaipur, made sense of what could occur on the off chance that you quit involving refined oil for a month.

But Dr. Shrimal warned that you still need certain healthy fats, like Omega-3s and Omega-6s, which help your body work right. "Try foods with good fats, like avocados, nuts, seeds, and fatty fish, to stay healthy while you're not using refined oil," he said.

Dr. Shrimal added that giving up refined oil for a month can be a good experiment for lots of people. It helps you eat fewer bad fats and might help your health.

"Before you make big changes, it's smart to talk to a doctor or nutritionist, especially if you have special food needs or health problems. They can tell you if this is a good idea for you. Remember, your body needs fats for lots of things, so be sure to eat healthier fats instead of refined oils," Dr. Shrimal added.

If you want to stop using refined oil, here are some healthier choices recommended by Patil:

Olive Oil: Extra virgin olive oil has good fats and things that fight bad stuff in your body. It's really good for you and is used a lot in Mediterranean cooking.


Avocado Oil: This oil has healthy fats too and works well for cooking at higher heat.

Coconut Oil: Some people argue about this, but virgin coconut oil has special fats and a unique taste. It's good for cooking at medium heat.

Nut and Seed Oils: Oils from things like walnuts, flaxseeds, and sesame seeds have fats your body needs. But they're best for cold dishes because they don't handle high heat well.


Butter or Ghee: If you have dairy, a bit of butter or clarified butter (ghee) can make your food taste great.

Nut Butter: Natural nut spreads like almond or peanut butter can be put on things or added to recipes.

The trick is to eat a mix of good fats instead of cutting out fats completely. Keep your diet balanced and enjoy different healthy fats.
